Established in 1981, the Department of English has evolved into a centre of academic excellence and a dynamic space for higher learning. The undergraduate programme, introduced in 1993, has consistently produced graduates who have excelled in academia, industry, and diverse professional domains. The postgraduate programme, launched in 2016, further strengthened the department’s commitment to advanced learning and scholarly engagement.A significant milestone was achieved in 2023 when the department was recognised as a Research Centre, providing a platform for advanced research and academic inquiry in English Studies. It remains the only recognised Research Centre in English affiliated to Kannur University in Wayanad district, marking its distinct academic position in the region.The department is committed to delivering inclusive and quality education, with a strong focus on developing proficiency in written and oral communication, critical thinking, and literary analysis. Through learner-centred and outcome-based pedagogical practices, students are equipped to pursue higher studies and secure meaningful career opportunities.In addition to academic excellence, the department actively promotes social awareness, ethical values, and a spirit of engagement with the community.
