The Department of Malayalam was established in 1981. It has been taught as a second language since then. Language Studies is designed with an aim to promote aptitude for Malayalam language and culture, introduce different literary genres, familiarize the aesthetic principles, inculcate aptitude for creative writing, and understand historically the changes that have come over to Malayalam language, literature and culture. Vision: The aim is to start an undergraduate programme in Malayalam Programmes Offered Under the new Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP), we provide: AEC (Ability Enhancement Courses) Minor Courses MDC (Multidisciplinary Courses) Student Clubs Sahityavedi: A literary club that helps students discover and develop their creative writing and speaking talents. Bharanabasha Samithi: A group dedicated to promoting Malayalam as an official language. Succession List of HoDs
